Cato Trail Blazers-             March 2008 Newsletter –             www.catotrailblazers.com

Barring a last hurrah snowstorm it looks like riding in our area is done.  Some of us road more in March around here than in Feb and Jan combined….sometimes it happens.  Good thing most of us are in this for the long haul…..

The Land Owner Breakfast is March 30, from 8-11am at the Cato Fire Station.  This is free for land owners.  If you haven’t received your invitation yet,  you should be shortly.  We are also looking for volunteers to help during the breakfast.

We plan on picking signs up off the trails the weekend of April 5-6.  The club has no easy-button or a magic sign ferry, so we could use some help to get these signs off the ground.  We realize many people have work or engagements, but sometimes it seems like the same people over and over again.  The club appreciates all the help you can offer.  Even if its little things like picking up a knocked down sign on the trail when riding, that is great too.  We would also like to be notified when you are riding and see problems on the trail- don’t assume that the ‘trail coordinators’ know of these problems.  Overall, our club is in great shape compared to many other clubs.  We do have a lot of people help out, and that’s great….we just want to keep building the base……

We are also looking for a running riding mower.  With the addition of the groomer building, we have planted grass around the clubhouse – groomer building, and mowing it by push mower will be a tiresome job.  So you have or know someone with a working riding mower that you would like to donate to the club, that would be great.  Until then, if you have a mower and would like to volunteer some of your time to mow this spring/summer, that would be nice too.

The Family Fun Day was a huge success.  There was hardly any snow, but the fun and games were great! We had an egg-holding obstacle course snowmobile race, tug-of-wars, human dog sled races, groomer & snowmobile rides, sledding, falling, slipping, and of course eating!  Hopefully next year we will have more snow and even more people.  There are photos on the website of the event.  Marissa Sponable did a great job organizing this, and appreciates everyone who attended and helped out.

Thursday March 27th is the last bi-weekly club meeting of the season.  After that we will just meet the 2nd Thursday of the month until next years season.

Remember, the club has a classified section- which is free- to help you sell your stuff.  I know a lot of people sell their sleds after the season (hopefully to buy newer ones), so feel free to use it.  You can either upload, or email me, and if you live close to Cato, I will even take the photos for you.  This encourages people to visit our website, see what’s going on, and leads to increased membership!

We still have a bunch of hats left, and some sweatshirts.  Contact any board member to purchase one, or just show up at a meeting.  So lets cross our fingers and hope for one last blast of snow before the April showers bring the May flowers…

The club has new hats- only $10.  they are black, with tan and green embroidery.  They are a modern style hat, with a velcro back. One size fits most.  To order, attend a meeting or event, or simply
