Cato Trail Blazers-             May 2008 Newsletter –                 www.catotrailblazers.com

Things are very busy this time of year, and once again we need your help.  If you haven’t hear, on or around March 7 the Director of Budget orders the State Comptroller’s Office to transfer $100 million in available fund balances in Miscellaneous Special Revenue accounts to the state’s General Fund.  As part of this transfer of these funds, $1 million was transferred from the Snowmobile Trail Development and Management Account.

In English- $1 Million of trail money was taken from us.  That money came from our registrations.  What you can do to help, enclosed are letters to sign and send to your local state senator or assembly person.  Send it out.  This is gaining media attention.  If enough of us bark, perhaps the state will realized what they did was wrong and unethical.  We need that trail money.  They state thought it was extra or something, but it wasn’t, it just wasn’t paid out to the clubs yet.

I know it’s not very convenient, but please, do what you can to get these letters out.  This was a big chunk of money for us to lose, and this money came from your registrations, not from general taxes or non-snowmobiliers.  Here is a link to NYS Government, it gives contact info to State Politicians to contact.

We can always use help at the Chicken BBQ on May 11.  From morning through lunch, and clean up, anything you can do to help would be appreciated.  We also appreciate all the donations as well, that definitely saves us time and money.

We are also going to be working on a day to build our ‘lean tube’ to put the signs in, so they are scattered around the club house.

Last meeting of the year is June 12 (club elections).  Next meeting after that is on September  11, with Open House on Sept 13.

We also ordered T-Shirts, same design as sweatshirts. The price should be around $10 give or take a buck.  We still have a small supply of hats and sweatshirts left, all will be available at the BBQ.  We have 50/50 raffle tickets to sell, drawing is at the Open House on 9/13.  We are working on a presence for the Memorial Day Parade, so be watching.
